Sawadika..

ok, i'm back.

i escaped to Bangkok for a respite. a short one. i only told a few people about it (people like my boss, because i needed to apply for leave), so that i could save some money on souvenirs and presents. haa, kidding.

i didn't tell many people because i wanted a break, i wanted to leave everything behind, to be away from the problems and stress that have been building up.

it's not the first time i travelled alone, and besides, i have friends in Bangkok. not a problem if i want to roam around. :) and oh, thanks to my friends and her family for the hospitality. :)

this being my first time in Bangkok, there were a few "must-go" places i've visited:

the Royal Palace

Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha)

Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha)

Khao San Road

Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn)

The Erawan Shrine

Siam Square

Chatuchak Weekend Market

there are many things that are unique to Thailand's culture. there are some "must-trys" as well:

the Tuk-tuk

traditional Thai massage - that made me almost screaming in pain and i thought my back was going to break.

Thai food can be super spicy, which i couldn't take it, plus, i need to think of my not-so-strong stomach.

the Thais are friendly too, well, as least my friends are. :) but i don't understand why people like to speak to me in Thai. do i look like a Thai? not only people think i'm a Filipino, now a Thai. do i have a universal face, or what?

what i don't like about Bangkok is the traffic jams. one word - horrible.

and surprisingly, i didn't shop a lot. but i did walk a lot. i've been to too many places, i guess. and i had to hop back with a knee guard and a bandage on my foot, because they couldn't take it anymore. ouch.

P.S. pictures will be uploaded, when i have the time again. perhaps i will also share some experiences in Bangkok, yes, when i have the time.
